Agent-ready checkout

New kind of buyer. No new build.

Catch the sales agents bring.

Your customers are handing the shopping over to AI. When their agent reaches your checkout, it can pay, so the sale does not go to a store that got ready first.

Your setup, now open to agents.

Agent payments run through the same integration as the rest of your checkout. Same providers, same routing, same reporting.

Skip the protocol homework.

Agent protocols are multiplying fast. You don’t need to track them: we connect to them, handle the onboarding, and add new ones as they arrive.

Your customer stays in charge.

Your customer decides what their agent can buy and how much it can spend. Payments that fall outside those limits get stopped at checkout.

capabilities

AI agents pay. Your customers set the limits. Your routing does the rest.

Each one runs on the integration you already have.

Agent-ready checkout

AI shopping agents pay through your existing integration. We run the agent protocols for you and connect them to the same payments setup as your regular checkout, so there’s no second payment system to build or maintain.

Agent session paying within a mandate at checkout

Agent verification & mandate

The card schemes issue verified agent credentials. Upprove's role is to orchestrate supported verification at checkout and enforce the consumer spending mandate attached to the transaction. Identity stays with the schemes; payment orchestration stays with Upprove.

Mandate card: agent verified, spending limit and scope

Smart routing, built in

Once the agent is verified, the payment runs on the payment orchestration layer underneath, routed across your connected payment providers by cost, geography, provider performance and your own rules. A failed attempt can cascade to another provider, and the outcome shows up in one place with your other payments.

How it works

An AI agent’s purchase, turned into your sale.

Agent verified, limits checked, and the rest runs as usual.

Your customer sets the rules.

They tell their AI agent what to buy and how much it can spend. The card scheme gives the agent a verified identity.

The agent gets checked at your checkout.

Its credentials are validated and the purchase is matched against your customer’s limits. Anything outside them doesn’t go through.

The payment goes through your providers.

It gets routed across your providers, and retried on another one if needed. Once it is approved, your provider processes the payment and the order is yours.

Frequently asked questions

What does agent-ready actually mean?

Your checkout can accept payments from verified AI shopping agents through the integration you already have. The agent protocol endpoints and the onboarding for each platform are handled for you. Each agent platform still decides who takes part, so agent-ready means you are set up and onboarded, ready for those platforms to switch you on.

Do I need to change my integration?

No. Agent payments use the same integration, providers and routing rules you already have.

Who issues AI agent identities?

Two places. The platform the shopper's agent runs on registers and identifies its agents, and the card schemes verify agents at checkout through programs such as Visa Trusted Agent Protocol and Mastercard Agent Pay. At your checkout those credentials are checked and your customer's spending limits are applied.

Which agent protocols are supported?

OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol, Google's Agent Payments Protocol, and the Model Context Protocol used by Claude-based agents, with Visa Trusted Agent Protocol and Mastercard Agent Pay for agent verification.

Will my store appear on AI agent platforms straight away?

Not automatically. Each platform controls who joins and when. The onboarding for each one is handled for you, so your team skips the paperwork and the separate integrations.

Can an agent spend more than my customer allowed?

Each agent payment is checked against the mandate your customer set. Anything outside it does not go through.

What happens to the payment once an agent reaches checkout?

The agent's credentials and your customer's limits get checked first. Then the payment is routed across your connected providers using factors like cost, geography, provider performance and your own rules, and it can cascade to another provider if an attempt fails.

Who holds and settles the funds?

Your own payment providers. Upprove provides payment orchestration technology. Payment processing, acquiring and settlement are provided by the merchant's contracted payment providers. Upprove does not receive or hold merchant settlement funds.
